The centre’s clinical researchers have established expertise in heart failure, coronary artery disease, stroke, traumatic injury, vascular aneurysms, and clinical electrophysiology. This is also an important nexus linking groups requiring clinical samples with clinical collaborators that can provide them. Key strengths are biomedical device development and improvement of patient identification and assessment (biomarkers). We also incorporate clinical exercise physiologists (Taylor, Keating, Coombes) and specialist in cardiac rehabilitation (Taylor).

The centre will connect clinicians with the CCVHR’s biomedical researchers, formalising existing collaborations and facilitating new avenues of translational research. Established clinical platforms and organised patient cohorts will further facilitate testing novel treatments against standard of care and develop improved clinical guidelines. We also incorporate oncologists to focus on cardio oncology.
