Vascular dysfunction is a central driver of cardiovascular diseases. CCVHR research groups have leading expertise in distinct fields such as basic vascular biology, immunology, vascular physiology and genomics. By developing and implementing cutting edge preclinical models, we will identify key molecular pathways and treatment avenues for vascular diseases. such as vascular aneurysms (Allenby, Winter, Lagendijk, Kemp), stroke (Vukovic, Balbi, Palpant, King, Lagendijk, Labzin), haemorrhagic injury (Midwinter), BBB (dys)function (Cater, Lagendijk, Labzin), thrombotic microangiopathy (Allenby, Midwinter), and autonomic dysreflexia post-spinal cord injury (Ruitenberg).

CCVHR will bringing together researchers with distinct expertise but with overlapping disease questions to deliver impactful research outcomes. Furthermore, in the CCVHR experts in vascular biology and disease will work closely with experts in cardiac biology and disease, providing a more holistic approach to cardiovascular disease and facilitating availability to a much larger suite of pre-clinical models available within the broader CCVHR team.
