I am a research assistant in the Millard laboratory. I have a long-standing interest in molecular biology and gene therapies, including gene editing. Using the CRISPR/Cas9 system I’m working on how to edit and repair genes in our model organism, Drosophila melanogaster, with the aim of identifying novel genes involved in sporadic ALS. Sporadic ALS represents the majority of ALS diagnoses yet little is known about the associated genes. Gene editing allows us to investigate candidate ALS genes with relative ease and in a timely manner.
