Dr Olga Panagiotopoulou's study from the School of Biomedical Sciences commented that a large number of elephants were euthanased every year due to foot disease.
To try to prevent this, Dr Panagiotopoulou undertook a comparative study of elephants in a safari setting in Africa versus a more captive environment in England.
