This year we welcome international scientists and their students from the University of Oxford, United Kingdom; Ludwig Maximilians University, Germany; Otago University, New Zealand; and University of Paris (UPMC).

As suggested by its name, this symposium is about postgraduate students. Its mandate is to provide postgraduates in biomedical sciences in SBMS and across UQ an outstanding opportunity of presenting their research, listening to presentations by others, and discussing it amongst themselves and with distinguished guests. The breadth and richness and of this enterprise becomes evident when one considers the diversity of the nine Schools, institutes and centres across UQ who have joined SBMS for this symposium. In addition, the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (MBS) has adopted the symposium as a formal activity and has provided significant resources to ensure its success.
