Who can apply?

  • High achieving undergraduate students.
  • Postgraduate coursework students in the Faculty or related discipline; or
  • Master of Philosophy (MPhil) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) students in the Faculty or related discipline;
  • Individuals with no finding of ‘guilty’ in student misconduct matters; or
  • External applicants with a combination of relevant education and experience.

Knowledge and skills

  • Demonstrated effective teaching skills or potential to rapidly acquire this skill, including the ability to encourage student input, be approachable and provide clear helpful advice and feedback.
  • Proficiency in the use of e-learning systems (e.g. Blackboard) or ability to rapidly acquire this skill.
  • Comfort and confidence with public speaking.

Experience

  • Ability to effectively lead small groups.

Personal qualities

  • High level of interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills including the ability to provide advice to and liaise with a wide range of individuals including senior academics, students, and professional staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, good judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritise own workload, work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to undertake a Student Evaluation of Tutor (SETutor) questionnaire if required.
