Jianina joined the Neuroinflammation Lab in 2020 as an Honours student investigating the expression of A1 astrocytes in Huntington’s disease. She commenced her PhD in 2021 and shifted her efforts towards determining the effects of the chemokine receptor CXCR2 on the disease progression of MND. The main objective of her research is to understand how specific components of the immune system contribute to neuronal and glial cell dysfunction, with the hope of identifying potential therapeutic targets for neurodegenerative diseases.
