Casual tutors and demonstrators

The School of Biomedical Sciences teaches into 14 degree programs at The University of Queensland. Apply for a casual tutor/demonstration position within our School if you would like to teach in the areas of anatomy, developmental biology, pharmacology, or physiology.

Prospective tutors should have achieved a history of consistently high results resulting in a GPA of 5 or higher. Practical or clinical experience may also be considered in the appointment of tutors. If you are or were a UQ student please include your student number. If you have undertaken studies at another university, please include scanned copies of a certified academic transcript and qualifications to support your application.
 
If your application is successful, you will be required to complete a Casual Staff Appointment Form (to be supplied by Tutor Coordinator) upon completion of the SBMS tutor induction. All new casual staff appointments must also complete a Method of Salary form and a Tax File Declaration form. Once entered into the system, casuals will receive a letter of offer from the Faculty of Science to the email address listed on their appointment form, with advice on what action is required on your part to confirm your acceptance of casual tutoring appointment. The signed letter of offer must be returned to the HR Officer, med.hr@uq.edu.au.

Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email.

Anatomy demonstrating 

Applicants must be:

  • experienced in identifying anatomical structures on human cadaveric specimens and/or human cadaveric dissection
  • available for the Tutors@UQ and Anatomy specific compulsory training sessions scheduled for the week prior to semester
  • able to supply a UQ student number or a certified copy or both your qualifications and academic transcript.

Pay

Casual Academic Pay rates (2015)

Demonstrator (Acad 50A) $41.20 per hour
Head Demonstrator (Acad 50B) $45.24 per hour
PBL Tutor (Acad 20D) $90.47 per hour
Exam marking (Acad 30A) $41.20 per hour
