Facility users must attend Core Facility-specific inductions prior to using any facility equipment. Facility inductions do not grant access to equipment, training on individual equipment must then be arranged.

The University of Queensland provides several training elements for individuals involved in the care and use of animals at UQ.

All UQ staff and students require approval from a UQ Animal Ethics Committee (AEC) prior to commencing any animal work.

All UQ staff and students seeking approval from a UQ Animal Ethics Committee for hands-on animal work are required to complete the Animal Ethics Online Training Course. 

To access to the Cryogen facilities in the MacGregor and Otto buildings, users must complete the online Cryogen safety training module and attend a Cryogen Facility local induction. Cryogen Facility inductions are held on the first Monday of each month at 10.30am in the Macgregor Cryogen Facility. To register for a Cryogen Facility induction, navigate to the SBMS-Analytical page on RIMS, click on the Request tab and submit a Cryogen Facility Induction Request. Core facility staff will contact you the week before the next scheduled training to confirm your availability. Requests submitted after the close of business on the Friday preceding the training may not be processed in time.
