CCVHR brings together a range of expertise to uncover key mechanisms controlling heart function that cause disease or have therapeutic benefit.

CCVHR has strong expertise in deciphering the mechanisms governing heart development cardiovascular diseases including heart ischemia/infarct, heart failure, lipopolysaccharide, spinal cord injury-induced autonomic dysfunction and the influence of diseases that impact cardiovascular health. We also use induced pluripotent stem cells differentiated into cardiomyocytes and cardiac organoids.

We have expertise in assessment of the positive effects of exercise on cardiovascular outcomes. Together this creates a multimodal pipeline for identifying the best targets for treatment of cardiac diseases. We also specialise in clinically relevant large animal models that incorporate clinical guidelines and machines to investigate heart transplantation, mitral valve regurgitation, heart failure, acute infarct, cardiogenic shock, septic shock, septic cardiomyopathy, haemorrhagic shock.
