Drug design and development focuses on discovering new medications and applications to create treatment approaches for human disease. Researchers at SBMS are developing novel therapeutics and repurposing established compounds to treat diseases including epilepsy, obesity, diabetes, cancer and neurological disorders. Researcher-developed candidate therapies are being tested in animal clinical trials. School facilities include mass spectrometry, robotics and high-throughput analytical equipment for screening compounds and their actions, and in vivo animal expertise.
